3A as in the Italian translation “Agricoltura,
Alimentazione, Ambiente” of Agriculture – Agrifood
Products – Environment
The activity of 3A-UMBRIA AGRIFOOD TECHNOLOGICAL PARK concentrates
in fact on the agricultural, agrifood and environmental sectors.
Established in 1989, from an idea promoted by the Region
of Umbria and financed
by the European Union Integrated Mediterranean Programme, the UMBRIA AGRIFOOD
TECHNOLOGICAL PARK is an essential instrument dedicated to the research and experimentation
of innovative techniques used within the agroindustrial sector.
Its mission is based mainly on the development of a modern agriculture which
is capable of preserving and improving traditional products, combining productivity
and protection of the environment with advanced technologies and new organizational
procedures. A commitment, in terms of strategies and resources, which intends
to achieve maximum quality of agrifood products.
Exceptionally high collaboration standards
The Park's main partners, in terms of proposals and incentives for activities,
are the Region of Umbria with relation to the legislative and programme aspects
and the University of Perugia, for the scientific phases. The Park is highly
skilled in amalgamating the proposals and placing them at the disposal of the
agricultural and agrifood companies present on the market by providing a whole
range of services.
The Operational Areas
Through the Innovation
and Research Area, 3A provides information and awareness
statistics on topics relating to research and innovation with the purpose
of stimulating the companies to undertake qualified projects that make them
eligible for regional, national and community financing.
The Certification Area has worked since 1998 on certification procedures
for DOP (Protected Denomination of Origin) and IGP (Protected Geographic
Indication) production,
both in Umbria and in other regions.
In particular, 3A is accredited by SINCERT for product certification, that
is the type of certification that most interests and protects consumers.
The Training Area has coordinated the training
programmes held at the educational facilities at the Park for over ten years:
the courses are reserved to both the employed and unemployed, with the purpose
of creating new professional experts in the agricultural and agro-industrial
field. The training area is certified to ISO 9001:2000 Standard and accredited
by the Region of Umbria for Superior and Continuous Training.
