The activity of 3A-UMBRIA AGRIFOOD TECHNOLOGICAL PARK concentrates in fact on the agricultural, agrifood and environmental sectors. Established in 1989, from an idea promoted by the Region of Umbria and financed by the European Union Integrated Mediterranean Programme, the UMBRIA AGRIFOOD TECHNOLOGICAL PARK is an essential instrument dedicated to the research and experimentation of innovative techniques used within the agroindustrial sector. Its mission is based mainly on the development of a modern agriculture which is capable of preserving and improving traditional products, combining productivity and protection of the environment with advanced technologies and new organizational procedures. A commitment, in terms of strategies and resources, which intends to achieve maximum quality of agrifood products.

INNOVATION AND RESEARCH
3A-UMBRIA AGRIFOOD TECHNOLOGICAL PARK carries out information and awareness activities regarding research and innovation topics with the objective of stimulating and encouraging the agricultural and agro-industrial companies in Umbria to participate in qualified projects. 3A-PTA has its own specialized laboratory for in vitro projects including a germplasm bank which is part of the project called "Vegetable Biodiversity in Umbria and its Preservation”.

ACTIVITIES

Research for sources and co-financing methods (community programs, government and regional funds, etc.)
Identification and launching of the most suitable structures for the realization of the project options, both within the Park companies and also at a national and international technical/scientific level
Search for partners at an international level to implement community research projects
Establishment of direct partnerships
Access to networks involving companies, sector institutions with the intention to exchange experience and explore potential relationships, also at a commercial level
Innovation Awareness: The Park organizes information days for businessmen and researchers on National and European Research Programmes
Understanding requirements: The Park plans and implements surveys to investigate the innovation requirements of agricultural and agro-industrial firms in the region, to regulate its own services according to tangible demands and to offer cognitive elements to the policy makers.

The Park works with national and international networks regarding Universities, Research and Scientific Centres and Technological Parks, with the sole purpose of acquiring knowledge and expanding the best technological transfer programmes which offers companies the chance to access high standard proficiency and extended forms of cooperation.
